An Educative-Theological Dialogue for a Culture of Peace
The Ecumenical School of the Science of Religion of the National University of Costa Rica, Oásis-Brazil and Ecumenical Services of Formation in Central America is holding the inaugural Latin-American Seminar-workshop:
"An Educative-Theological Dialogue for a Culture of Peace" in Costa Rica between 13 - 17 October 2008.
The purpose of this event is to unchain a process of discussion in theological and pedagogical formation for educators, educational professionals, government and non-government institutions, schools and churches in Latin America that work with children and adolescents in a situation of vulnerability.
Through the participation of specialists, together with groups from institutions and individuals, the seminar-workshop program will:
- promote the deconstruction of speeches, religious and theological practices and consider what they provoke, justify and legitimize with regard to the violence against children and adolescents;
- think about the educative practices, their presuppositions and implications regarding the development of children and to study the contribution of Paul Freire in the construction of pedagogical practices that criticize and look towards liberators for a culture of the peace.
In this first stage of preparation for this seminar the organisers are asking for expressions of interest in participating. If you are willing to participate, please answer the questions in the application form (click here to download application form [Word]) and email to one of the following addresses:
